To save time on follow-up communication, consider implementing autoresponders for web site and email inquiries. Autoresponders are a quick and efficient way to respond to potential customers instantly or at a later date. For example, when potential customers complete my online form, I have a autoresponder that is sent to their email address thanking them for their inquiry and informing them that someone will follow-up with them within 24 hours. This gives the potential customers the satisfaction that their request has been received and acknowledged.

As much as I like the glamorous look of flash animated web sites, they are not good for your business. Reason being, some people do not have the software on their computers to view flash animations and even if you give them the option to download the flash support, this is an extra step that some people are not willing to take plus, many people are very reluctant to add unnecessary software to their computer. This is a reason for potential customers to leave your site and never return. Also, flash makes it more difficult for search engine spiders to find your web site and this could hurt your ranking. So the best thing for you to do is just say “no” to flash animations. There are other ways for you to be flashy with your web site without using flash.

If you decide to conduct an email marketing campaign, don’t just jump right into sending emails to everyone you know. Develop a strategic plan that includes the following questions:

  1. Who is your intended market?
  2. What your email design/content will be about?
  3. When you plan to send it?
  4. Why the email is relevant to you target market?
  5. How you are going to get your recipient to actually open the email?
Also, create some goals and benchmarks for this campaign so at the end, you can determine how well you did or did not do.

If you don’t already have one, you should write a 30 second elevator speech that will effectively describe your business and what you do. You should also be able to concisely deliver your speech to where it sounds natural and conversational. Since you never know who you may run into on the elevator or at the store, you should always have your speech ready to go, just in case someone asks you “what do you do?”

If you Google "elevator speech", you will find that there is a lot of information on the Internet that will help you draft a good speech.
